 Introduction about Cleaning Method and Magnetic Separation of Brown Fused Alumina

General treatment methods of brown fused alumina are wind washing, water washing, acid washing and high temperature treatment,etc. They have their own strengths, which play an important role in washing of BFA.


1.Wind Washing :
Wind-washing treatment with small investment, high efficiency, low cost, but it can not completely remove the superfine particles attached to the abrasive surface, generally used for cleaning abrasive coarse particles.


2.Water Washing
Water treatment process is more complex, to improve the purity of abrasive is better than wind-washing, but with a large amount of water consumption, and need to be secondary drying, high cost.The advantages of water washing: Small dust and high efficiency.


A.Little dust: the use of washed brown corundum surface spray treatment, due to its relatively high proportion, so the dust generated during the spraying process is relatively small, which ensures the operator's health and safety, improve the visibility of the operator. Because the slag is relatively brittle in abrasion process, easy to crush the formation of small particles. The proportion of slag is relatively small, thus small slag particles suspended in the air, causing environmental pollution.
B.High efficiency: Washed BFA under a certain pressure, can be a large number of sharp edges and corners with a sharp impact on the surface, so it is regarded as a very fast way to spray in the air particle acceleration and velocity is inertia and particle size generation. The smaller the particles, the easier it is to accelerate and therefore produce a higher impact force on the surface of the object, resulting in a very high cleaning speed - usually, this speed (m2 / hr) twice as fast as other conventional abrasive.


3.Acid Washing
From 220 mesh to fine abrasives, impurities, high content of subdivision, wind washing and washing can not be qualified.We can only use Acid Washing to handle, but this way need more water and second drying cost is higher; By Acid Washing, removing iron and carbon, so that brown fused corundum in use will not detonate, reduce brittleness, increase toughness.


4.High Temperature Treatment
At present, High temperature treatment is the best way to deal with the purity of brown fused alumina, but the initial investment is larger.
Usually, the purity of the brown corundum is smelted because the quality of the corundum is difficult to meet the quality requirement of the alumina product in recent years. Therefore, the production and processing of the corundum abrasive and the follow-up treatment will display more and more important.

Magnetic separation is a method for removing magnetic metal impurities from oil by magnetic force. The application of magnetic separation is the use of a variety of minerals or materials magnetic difference, in the magnetic force and other forces to choose other process.
During of making BFA grits process, using Magnetic separation to handle the iron, we can guarantee the grit is iron free.
